Big life changes are possible.

The history behind Árya - Health Professionals

Civil Engineering or Psychology? This was the challenge I faced when I had to choose which course I was going to study at university. Following my mother's career, a Civil Engineering professor, sounded like a safe idea and I ended up choosing this option.

From then on, everything happened according to script: I got into a renown state university, I did internships in Brazil and Switzerland, I was employed as a structural engineer in England and then in Australia, everything was very good in the eyes of the world. However, I knew something was not right. A career as an engineer, a good salary, such security made no sense. There was something really wrong.

Faced with this situation, deep questions about what, in fact, made sense to me emerged. These questions ultimately had a substantial impact on my life. Full of fears, I decided to return to Brazil and I sought psychotherapy to help me in this reflection while I learned more about Psychology and its possibilities. So, with a more mature idea, I started a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at PUC-Rio.

From that moment of great anguish and anxiety when I questioned my professional choices until now, I always sought support in psychotherapy to help me through these and other difficult times. With this experience, the interest in being a psychologist began to gain more and more meaning, which was evident during the end-of-course internship at PUC-Rio and at the Institute of Psychiatry of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (IPUB).

After graduating, I moved to Brasilia and completed a Master of Science in Developmental Psychology and Health at the University of Brasília. At the end of this intense formation period, I felt that I was prepared to start my own practice, Árya - Health Professionals, a space based on ethics, responsibility and patient care in a safe and welcoming environment.
